2nd Annual Pride Month Film Series

The Capitol Theatre is happy to present its second annual LGBT Pride Month Film Series in June. Every Tuesday night in June the Capitol will present a selection of films to celebrate the LGBT community.

Happy Hour Classic Film Series at the Capitol Theatre

The Capitol Theatre is excited to continue our popular Happy Hour Classic Film Series.

Each month the Capitol Theatre will present a classic film on the big screen in its historic main auditorium. Before the film enjoy a Happy Hour cocktail party starting at 6:00 PM. Your admission to the film includes a complimentary mini-cocktail or soft drink, light appetizers and live music in the lobby. After the reception enjoy the film starting at 7:00 PM. Happy Hour drink specials with $1 off beer, wine and cocktails are available until 8:00 PM.

Tickets are $10. Cocktail party begins at 6:00 PM. Film starts at 7:00 PM.

Rape of Recy Taylor

Racial Equity and Inclusion Series at the Capitol Theatre

This spring, Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization (DSCDO) will present three films around Racial Equity and Inclusion at the Capitol Theatre (1390 W 65th Street). Located in the heart of the Gordon Square Arts District, the Capitol Theatre is owned by DSCDO and operated by Cleveland Cinemas.


Films begin at 6:30pm and a $5 donation is suggested for admission. Immediately following each showing, guests are invited to proceed to the upstairs meeting room at XYZ the Tavern (6419 Detroit Avenue) where food will be provided so community members can gather and continue the dialogue (cash bar).


Films include:

March 13 - The Rape of Recy Taylor In 1944 Alabama, African-American wife and mother Recy Taylor is gang raped by seven white men, and then bravely identifies her attackers. 

April 17 - The Pruitt-Igoe Myth – This film explores the development and failure of a 1950s housing estate in St. Louis.

May 8 - The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 – This documentary compiles footage shot by Swedish journalists documenting the Black Power Movement.


Cleveland Museum of Natural History Reel Science Film Series

Cleveland Museum of Natural History Reel Science Film Series

Cleveland Cinemas and the Cleveland Museum of Natural History have partnered on an exciting new series of films called Reel Science. Featuring an eclectic and diverse line-up of classic and contemporary films, Reel Science will explore the facts and fictions in each film with an introduction and post-screening discussion hosted by one of the experts from CMNH. General admission to each film is $8.00. CMNH and Marquee Rewards members can purchase a discounted admission at the box office for just $6. A portion of each admission benefits the Cleveland Museum of Natural History.

Valet parking at Cedar Lee Theatre

Starting Friday, December 18th valet parking will be available at the Cedar Lee Theatre on Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30 PM to 11:30 PM. Valet parking is $5 but if you present your valet ticket at the concession stand you'll receive $3 off your concession purchase (not valid for alcohol).

Valet drop off station is now located in the parking lot next to the Cedar Lee Parking Garage.

Cleveland Cinemas Cell Phone Policy

Cleveland Cinemas has a strict policy in regards to cell phone or tablet usage in our theatres. Anyone using a cell phone, tablet or other electronic device during the presentation may be asked to leave without a refund.

Please be courteous to those around you while you are watching the film by making sure your phone is turned off (not on silent or vibrate mode).

$1 Family Films at Select Locations


We are proud to continue our $1 Family Films this summer at the following locations: Capitol Theatre, Cedar Lee Theatre, Chagrin Cinemas, Shaker Square Cinemas and Southside Works Cinema.

Each film starts at 10:00 AM. Doors will open at 9:30 AM and 1 adult guardian is required for every 10 children. No outside food or drinks are permitted.
