The Gathr Preview Series gives audiences in select cities the chance to see the best new independent cinema in theaters before anyone else - even before NYC and LA. Think of it as your year-round film festival, movie club, and mid-week date night all rolled into one! Every week, members can go to their local arthouse and experience a diverse range of comedies, documentaries, dramas and international movies curated from the major independent distributors' upcoming releases. *Jeff Niesel from the Cleveland Scene will be leading post film discussions after the screenings of ICEMAN (May 1st), THE DEEP (May 8th) and WHAT MAISIE KNEW (May 21st).
Jeff Niesel started writing about popular culture some 25 years ago when he stood in the pouring rain to hitch hike his way to see R.E.M. on their Life&rsquos Rich Pageant tour. Since that time, he's written for various daily newspapers, alt-weeklies, magazines and websites and now writes for the Cleveland Scene, one of the country's oldest alt-weeklies, where he officially serves as the music editor and unofficially acts as the film editor. He also teaches English part-time at Cuyahoga Community College where he regularly shows films in the classroom, and not just because he's lazy. He regularly assigns essays relating to the films.
